WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

EUGENE TIERNEY

Dear Ronel,

The whole itinerary was excellent. It was nice to be met at Johannesburg airport when we arrived and directed to the Fed Air lounge (which was not exactly a walk across the road). Impodimo was an outstanding choice of lodge. The place is beautiful, the staff are very welcoming, the game drives, as good as we could hope for, and the food was excellent. Perhaps not everyone would feel safe in a lodge that is not secured by a fence and have to be escorted back to the room at night by a guide with a gun, but for us it was perfect.

Cape Town has much to offer and the guides (especially Francois who did the half day tour) were very informed and helped us make the most of it. Table Bay is a fine hotel, but if I’m to criticise anything, perhaps a bit large and corporate for our holiday taste. However, I’m not sure any boutique hotel (other than the no doubt immensely pricey Silo) could better it’slocation on the V&A waterfront which more than made up for anything else.

Finally, Franschhoek was a delight and Ivan, our driver / guide on the way there was excellent and adaptable. We particularly appreciated his choice of la Petite Provence as a wine estate to stop at on the journey. The vine hopper tour was fine, but the later start was a good move and overall I think we would have preferred to stay around the Franschhoek region rather than go to Stellenbosch. But these are minor things and the hotel, the Last Word, was the perfect place to stay. Service was very personal but discreet, with Franklin and Conrad looking after us very well and there were plenty of good restaurants within strolling distance. The Champagne festival was on during our stay and it’s worth including that in a future itinerary if it’s feasible for other travellers. Our last meal was lunch at la Petite Ferme which was the perfect end to a wonderful stay in South Africa.

In short, African Outposts chose the perfect itinerary for our two weeks in South Africa. You understood my brief and worked within our budget to come up with a range of places to stay and activities that exceeded our already high expectations of what to expect from the country. I have no hesitation in recommending your services to other travellers and, indeed, have already done so.

Thank you again for an exceptional holiday.

MRS MARY TRICKER & MRS MADELEINE DOWDING

Our trip was brilliant thank you. The hotels/guest houses were all fine and very helpful. The tour company who took us down the garden route were great and our tour guide Philip was also excellent.

We loved Cape Town and would have liked a couple more days there as there was so much to do. We were lucky with the siting of our Winchester Mansions hotel in that it was on the seafront opposite the bus stop for the open top buses and ran a bookable minibus into the Harbourside and back.

We were lucky enough to be able to go up Table Mountain with all its wonderful views as the weather was kind.

All in all, a lovely break and thank you for arranging it.

Rest assured that when we return to Africa we will organise the trip through you as we have found your services exceptional. We have always enjoyed every detail of our trips, Darrell and Nadia, and now Robin and Donna have loved the experiences that you have arranged for us every time we have travelled to your amazing country and we all hope to return soon. Warmest regards, Stephen & Rhonda

“Hi Anna, A quick note to thank you for suggesting and organising my stay at Motswari. All the arrangements went perfectly and my stay at the lodge memorable and more than I expected. I would recommend Motswari to anyone who wants to get away from TV’s and telephones ,and you really feel like you are in the bush, whilst being treated as a friend and honoured guest. Once again thanks for everything.”

RHONDA AND STEPHEN

“Hi African Outposts,

We had a great time at Motswari, the game viewing was really good, we saw cheetah, leopards, elephants and rhinos on our first game drive. It was great to also catch up with Thea and Dave, the managers at Motswari, they were at Umlani the first time that we stayed there. Motswari was a really wonderful place, the staff were very attentive, the food was great and what more could we say about our guide Herold and tracker Difference. They knew that we had all been to South Africa and Timbavati before and showed us what we asked for, within reason, although they could not find any wild dogs or sable. Thank you for organising our stay, it was great. I have just finished the first draft of my journal , I had to get it down before the weekend. We are off to Vietnam on Sunday fo 18 days, a different part of the world altogether.

Thanks to you and to African Outposts once again.”

“Thought I would pass on comments from my team. They say you are the best to deal with in Africa regarding your responses and the speed in which they come back. This is a big pat on the back for you as our staff don’t give too many compliments out to operators, but they love dealing with you.”

“I believe your ears must be burning for the past two days. I have heard so many wonderful things about the safari you designed for my clients. They had each called me to tell me they had a wonderful time and enjoyed it from start to finish. They thought Ryan, their guide, was incredible and so knowledgeable. I will never use any other safari group ever.  I thank you so much for all your help and for making me look so good to my clients.”

“It seems a long time ago since we were spotting game together in the Kruger Park, all of us enjoying it, and then at Skukuza my heart attack.  Although very ill, the one thing that reassured Sally and me was the competence in dealing with my problem. There is no doubt that the part you played in rushing me to Nelspruit hospital so late at night, is the major reason why, my friend, I am able to write and thank you for your tremendous effort over those terrible days. We arrived home safely and, thankfully, I have recovered well. Both I and my family send our grateful thanks for your outstanding efforts and kindness.”

“I don’t use travel agents as a rule.  I just like to do the research, the investigation, the decision-making myself.  I rely on other travelers, many from tripadvisor. But when it came to our South Africa adventure, I decided to get some professional advice.  I’m so glad I did.  I got proposals from 7-8 different firms, both in the USA and in South Africa.  I did do a few things myself. I booked our RT airfares from the US, and when I found a safari deal Online, I snagged it.  Everything else I put in the hands of the sales team at African Outposts in Johannesburg. That turned out to be a lifesaver, or at least a vacation saver!

All was going well, very well, until the afternoon before our safari when we got a call saying Sabi Sabi was flooded and taking no new guests the next day. Indeed a monster cyclone had blown in from Mozambique doing enormous damage to many reserves near Kruger. The sales team took it upon themselves, without me asking, even though they hadn’t booked our safari, to find us an alternative. What they offered was Tuningi in Madikwe, and it was better than we could have imagined.   The price was very close to what we had paid for Sabi Sabi. Plus, the African Outposts switched our flights and arranged for a car and driver to take us to Tuningi. It all worked smoothly, we didn’t lose a day.  And on top of that, African Outposts has worked to get us some refunds on flights we did not use.

This is simply to offer a hearty thanks and a strong endorsement of African Outposts and their very competent and caring staff.”

“I just wanted to thank you for the excellent organisation for our trip in South Africa. Everything went well; the programme in the surroundings of PE, the matches, accommodations and transfers. All the organisation in the airports, stadiums and public transfer were beyond our expectations – in fact they do not work so smoothly in Europe. We also felt secure all the time.

From the tourist point of view you live in a great country – as we saw very thin slice of it. I wish that you can solve all the challenges you may have ahead. Anyway, it was great place to visit and I am sure to come once again; only the 20-hours trip from door-to-door is somewhat exhausting.”

“Anna – a big thank you – dealing with your staff today – was such a breath of fresh air – their polite and professional manner – blew us away.”

MRS. MARILYN MOUND

“Dear Anna,

My husband and I travelled with African Outposts during our recent visit to South Africa. On August 25th we departed Johannesburg for Lukimbi Safari Lodge via the panoramic route. We had the good fortune of having Brett Stanley as our guide/escort/driver for the two day journey. We have travelled extensively and would like you to know that we consider Brett to be “the best of the best.” His knowledge of history and animals, pleasant professional manner and familiarity with Kruger were exceptional. I will definitely tell friends to request Brett should they visit SA in the future and have passed these feelings onto our travel agent.”

“Marshall and Chris were outstanding and we got along perfectly. African Outposts provides more than quality service to their customers, I can only recommend it to anybody who would like to explore Southern Africa. So my next trip, probably 2015 will be Kruger national park, I guess it is time for me after 4 trips to your country.”

STEPHEN AND RHONDA KEARSEY

“Hi African Outposts, we just wanted to thank you for arranging our holiday, we had a wonderful time at Thonga Beach on the Indian Ocean where we saw the turtles laying their eggs, in daylight thanks to you, it was perfect timing.

Phinda Forest Lodge in the Sand Forest was fabulous, we saw plenty of amazing animals, including many rhinos, a very cute baby hyena, lions hunting and a cheetah family chase and catch a baby impala.

The accommodation was out standing, very luxurious , the  whole experience was amazing, you really excelled there. The Oyster Box was very different, we enjoyed the stop over on the way to the  Cathedral Peak Hotel in the Drakensburg Mountains, the weather was not great but we did still manage to do a few walks in the mountains, enjoying the great scenery. Our guide on the Soweto tour was also very interesting and knowledgeable, thanks for arranging that tour as well.”
