Itinerary

Days 1 – 4: Khwai Tented Camp, Botswana

A scattering of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland make up the concession and typifies the region’s unique landscape. The Khwai concession is known for its abundant wildlife, especially predators including lions, leopards and the rare African wild dog.

Khwai Community Area

The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season. The Khwai area offers the same wildlife experience as the reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives.

Khwai Tented Camp is set within the Okavango’s community-run Khwai Concession, the camp laps up its beautiful lagoon front setting. Perched on a raised deck, with sweeping lagoon views connecting to the Khwai River, this beautiful camp seamlessly blends into the surrounding woodland area. Simple yet elegant, Khwai Tented Camp strikes the perfect balance between homely touches whilst not detracting from the wild environment.

Days 4 – 7: Thorntree River Lodge, Zambia

Paradise awaits at Thorntree River Lodge. Choose to spend your days relaxing on the floating deck and traversing the Zambezi River by boat, or go exploring get swept away by the numerous activities the area has to offer. Stand in wonder in front of break-taking Victoria Falls or experience them from a different angle by helicopter or bungee jump. There is something here for everyone to enjoy.

Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

One of the original natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls is a World Heritage Site and an extremely popular tourism attraction. Known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ this spectacle is accessible from both Zambia and Zimbabwe and it is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports. There is excellent fishing, a terrifying bungee jump and arguably the best commercial white-water rafting in the world.

Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, it is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa. The communal deck is set on the edge of the stunning riverside and is home to a sunken boma area and an infinity pool.

Days 7 – 10:  Somalisa Camp, Zimbabwe

Finish your African adventure at Somalisa Camp which is set in its own private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as ‘the land of the giants’. Somalisa is renowned for attracting large elephant herds to its elephant pool in front of camp. Somalisa was also awarded the first GOLD Green Tourism Certification in Zimbabwe and is credited as being the leading eco-friendly safari destination in Zimbabwe.

Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. Terrain ranges from desert dunes and savannah lands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests, and visitors have the choice of game drives, guided walks or horseback safaris as a means of experiencing the park and its creatures.

Somalisa Camp is set in the heart of Hwange National Park and ensures complete luxury in its elegantly furnished Tents. The main decking area includes a separate lounge and dining area, as well as a small splash pool for guests overlooking the “Elephant Pool” and a natural waterhole where herds of game congregate to drink.  Activities include guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides, bird watching and day and night game drives.
