Day 1 - 3
On arrival at Bulawayo airport you will be met by your guide and transferred by road to Big Cave Camp, which is situated on a private reserve in the foothills of the Matobo National Park. You will spend the first 2 days of your Zimbabwe safari exploring the infamous rock formations, learning about Khoisan rock art and the history of Zimbabwe.
Big Cave reposes atop an enormous granite whaleback commanding inspirational views across the famous Matobo National Park. Sophisticated African architecture incorporates colossal boulders into a luxuriously appointed thatch lodge positioned amidst ancient Khoisan rock art. Retire at day's end to the natural rockpool and sundeck, the Leopard's Lair Lounge & Bar, a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks or the popular lodge library. Big Cave Camp resides on a 2000 acre private wilderness area that borders Matobo National Park and is included in a World Heritage Area.
Day 3 - 6
After breakfast at Big Cave camp you will continue your Zimbabwe safari and be driven by your guide for approx. 3 hours through rural Zimbabwe passing Ndebele villages to Hwange National Park, and your luxury private mobile tented camp where you will spend the next 4 days of your Zimbabwe safari.
Accommodation is in fully furnished East African Safari Tents with en-suite bathrooms ( flush toilets & hot water bucket showers ) in Hwange National Park. Hwange is a 'big-five' wildlife sanctuary, roughly the size of Belgium and famous for large concentrations of elephants and diverse wildlife & bird species. Mobile tented safaris will definitely get you up close and personal with the wilds of Africa, yet without compromise of your comfort and safety.
The luxury of these safaris is that you have full flexibility to do as much or as little game driving/walking/relaxing in camp as you wish. Your camp will be exclusive to your group so you will not have to share activities or submit to anyone else's daily itinerary. In addition you have a private game drive vehicle and you can benefit from the focused attention of your private guide who is there to host you on your safari.
All in all - an uncontrived, true African experience that will guarantee you an unforgettable African adventure and memories to last for all time.
Day 6 - 8
After breakfast you will set off on a game drive through Hwange National Park and then proceed along the main road to Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls is a 2 1/2 hour drive, where you will spend the last 2 nights of your safari at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.
Set on a high plateau that forms the boundary of the unfenced Zambezi National Park, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is four kilometres from the Victoria Falls. It is a deluxe African Lodge that offers guests excellent uninterrupted views of the National Park and easy access to the Victoria Falls. Designed with thatch roofs,hardwoods and vibrant colours, guests to this lodge will enjoy everything about Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. The main lodge building faces a waterhole that offers guests numerous sightings of the wildlife as they pass through the area into the wild bushveld. The deluxe Victoria Falls Safari Lodge prides itself on hospitality and food rivaled only by uninterrupted views and magnificent sunsets.
Enjoy your last morning's breakfast at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge before being collected for your transfer to the Zimbabwe Botswana border, 70 kilometers away. Complete border formalities and proceed to Ngoma Safari Lodge on the western boundary of Chobe National Park where you will be acommodated for the next two nights.
Situated in northern Botswana, within the Chobe Forest Reserve, Ngoma Safari Lodge borders the western edge of Chobe National Park (a region renown for its outstanding wildlife, in particular the famous Chobe Elephants, and home to more than 75 mammals and 450 bird species).
This privileged location commands awe-inspiring views onto the Caprivi Floodplain and the Chobe River, the lifeblood of the area. The lodge's central area includes a well-appointed lounge, dining room, bar area and a plunge pool with a striking water feature. Each of the lodge's 8 river-facing suites offers quiet refuge in a luxurious settings with an emphasis on space and comfort, and comes complete with bath, indoor and outdoor showers plus a private outdoor living area. Activities include game walk on the concession ( escorted by an armed Professional Guide ), a fully day game safari comprising of a drive in the Chobe National Park, a cruise on the Chobe River and a sumptuous lunch, day or night game drives, birding and visits to a local community village and school.
After breakfast on your last morning at Ngoma Safari Lodge you will catch your transfer back to Victoria Falls ( Zimbabwe ) airport for your onward flight home. This transfer should take approx. 2 1/2 hours including the border crossing back into Zimbabwe. This is where another of our exciting Zimbabwe tours ends.
