Kruger Park , Drakensburg and Cape

Day 1:
On arrival in Johannesburg, an African Outposts representative will meet and transfer you to a Sandton hotel for an overnight stay. (B)

Day 2:
Your expert wildlife field guide will collect you this morning and transport you in a luxury air-conditioned vehicle to the Timbavati Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. You check-in at one of the luxury private lodges and, after a light lunch, proceed on a game-viewing drive in your open 4x4 vehicle. After bush sundowners, your drive continues into the night, seeking out the nocturnal animals by means of a spotlight, before returning to the lodge. Dinner and overnight. (DB)

Day 3:
Full day of game viewing activities including drives and walks. Dinner and an overnight stay. (DB)

Day 4:
Today we take the Panorama route through the Blyde River Canyon - third largest canyon in the world - stopping at Bourke's Luck Potholes and God's Window. We visit a Shangaan village to meet some of these colourful people and learn a bit about their culture. In the late afternoon we enter the Kruger Park and overnight in a self-contained rest camp chalet. (DB)

Day 5:
During the day we drive into the different eco zones of the park and should encounter both big and small game as well as a variety of bird species including eagles, hawks and vultures as well as colourful rollers and sunbirds. Overnight in a rest camp chalet. (DB)

Day 6:
We depart after a final game drive and cross into the Kingdom of Swaziland. We visit some of the craft markets and cultural sites before reaching Mkhaya Game Reserve. This reserve is renowned for the work it does on the preservation of both black and white rhino and for close up encounters with these endangered animals. Overnight in lovely stone chalets, in a bush setting. (FI)

Day 7:
Today we cross into Zululand, homeland of such famous Zulu kings as Shaka, Dingaan and Ceteswayo, before proceeding onward to the world heritage wetlands site of St Lucia. Overnight at a delightful guest house. (DB)

Day 8:
A day of exploration cruising the lake with its magnificent bird life, and its hippo and crocodile populations. Walk the white sandy beaches and, if in season, spot breeding leatherback turtles. Overnight at guest house. (DB)

Day 9:
Depart for Durban, stopping at a Zulu village for a cultural experience, en - route. Tonight we overnight at a Durban beachfront hotel. (B)

Day 10:
Morning at leisure. Late afternoon transfer to airport for flight to Port Elizabeth. On arrival met by an Africa Outposts representative and transfer to a beach hotel. (B)

Day 11:
After breakfast we start along the scenic Garden Route past the surfer's paradise of Jeffrey's Bay, to Storms River, home of the world's highest bungee jump. We drive through the beautiful Tsitsikamma forest and Nature's Valley to our hotel in the Plettenberg Bay area. (BD)

Day 12:
We visit the quaint town of Knysna with its spectacular ‘heads’ where the sea enters the lagoon through two giant, natural buttresses. Cruise the lake or take the narrow gauge Outeniqua steam train ride from the nearby town of George to Mossel Bay and return to your hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 13:
Our first stop today is the Cango Caves near Oudtshoorn, followed by a visit to an ostrich farm before overnighting at a local hotel in Mossel Bay, an historic seaside town. (BD)

Day 14:
We leave Mossel Bay, and travel via Swellendam, the third oldest town in the country, to Hermanus on the shores of Walker Bay. These waters are renowned for breeding Southern Right whales, seen between June and November. Overnight at a guest house. (BD)

Day 15:
The winelands is our penultimate destination. The Boland (highland) towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are famous for their vineyards and we will visit one wine farm in each area to taste their famous wines before heading back to Cape Town. Overnight at a hotel on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. (B)

Day 16:
Early this morning we take a trip up Table Mountain and then tour the Cape Peninsula including Cape Point and The Boulders penguin colony. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 17:
At leisure. Overnight at your hotel. (B)

Day 18:
An opportunity to do last minute shopping before transferring to the airport for your flight home.

Includes breakfast and dinner daily, all entry fees and tours as indicated, and the flight from Durban - Port Elizabeth..
